- its 4 inches per hand and you measure ground to withers
- If I'm not mistaken minis are simply measured in inches - not hands. So.. 36" instead of 9 hands.
- There is 4 inches in a hand, ie 12hh, 12.1hh 12.2hh 12.3hh 13hh, shetlands are usually measured in inches or cms
- One hand equals four inches. Miniature horses are usually measured in just inches, because they are so small. There are special sticks that are made for measuring horses. They have a crossbar that can move up and down and the height labeled on the stick. There are also special tapes you can use.
- Miniature horses are measured in inches. A class minis should be taller than 34 inches in height and B class minis should be no taller than 38 inches. It is not unusual to find miniatures as small as 26", though 32"-36" are the most common sizes. Miniatures are not measured like ponies and large horses at the withers. Instead they are measured at the last hairs of the mane.
- you can get a tape measure from you feed store that will tell you hands and you can also use it to find weight.it will have directions on it.you measure from the withers to the ground.1 hand equals 4 inches.most minis are measured in inches not hands.i have 2 minis.hope this helps.
- there are 4 inches in a hand, but minis are measured in inches
- A hand is 4 inches. It is the same for all breeds.
- 1 hand is 4 inches. you measure a horse from the ground to the withers[where the neck and back meet]. it is the same for miniature horse, zebras, donkeys, its all teh same. when measuring make sure to be on even ground and use a proper measuring stick, or measuring tape.
- A hand is four inches. They sell a measuring tape at places like Tractor Supply Company specifically for that. Mini's are measured in inches, not hands because of how small they are. I think the cut-off for the breed specs for a mini is 34".
- one hand is 4 inches. hands are measured from the ground to the top of the horses front shoulder. i'm not sure about measuring minis though.
- a hand is 4 inches.
- 4 in =1 hand .yes u use hands on minatures thay r the same for EVERY horse . u start from the hoove up to the spine
- 1 hand= 4 inches always, no matter if it's a horse or pony .1= 1 inch .2= 2 inches you can't go past .3 hands, because .4 is 1 hand! strange how it works, huh! so like 14.3 hh... if you say 14.4 hh, that means it is actually 15 hh hh means hands high ponies smaller than 37 inches are measured in inches, not hands. (i think) minis are measured in inches, but if you want to measure in hands, you can if you want to! you measure from bottom of hoof (the ground) to its withers (the top of their shoulders/ where the top of each shoulder blade meets to other blade.) (well actually, the top of the spine above the meeting point of the shoulders. lol)
- one hand is 4 inches. you measure from the top of the withers to the floor. yes, hands are the same for miniature horses.
