Hippotherapy

equine assisted therapy?

hello everyone. i have just started my own riding therapy company where i live and it's running very well. after doing all my training in germany it's great to finally be able to work. the only thing which is causing me a bit of a headache is i need to write progress reports. now i know what i should put in it but i am not sure how to go about it. i would love to just have a look at some of your forms or reports you use as riding therapists as well to get a better overview, what has to be in, what i might not even have thought of. if you could show me a template or so i would be very grateful. thanks u

  1. You should hook up with some of the American Organization members since you did your training in Germany. If you go onto Yahoo! groups and sign up you can get access to many forms that centers all over the country post. Plus it is always good to have friends close by because they can help answer region specific questions. And for legal reasons until you find a form you like you should at least write down what you have done every week. Once you get a form it will be like a running log but you should always have records.
  2. contact your nearest vet office and they can help you in getting a tempt-plate for you they also have to go with what-ever the state wants, that is the best idea I can give ya at this time they are there to assist with what-ever problem ya have and also a progress report is just that, and nothing more, like how much developments you have done and the cost of everything down to the last cents, also the quality of the horses and their basic health and their ages, also the times and the dates of the therapy also does it , this type of therapy include the human therapy with horse or just therapy for horses. you need a base line there make them understand what your ideas are about. but contact the vet association and have them make a tempt-plate for you, that's my best-bet, and good-luck there a facilities out there to help everyone don't let them kid you!
  3. hello, i am a student at Artevelde University in Gent, Belgium where I study Equine Assisted Therapy at post-graduate level. So for this study you should be a certified practitioner in one of the fields of nursing, education, or welfare first. Also you should be a qualified rider yourself i.e. can take care of a horse, train a therapy horse, ride dressage horse. Furthermore the study involves extended hands-on practice of equine assisted therapy in health institutions or company's, special education, penalty institutions or some alike. Students and practitioners work on bases of medical reports and report progress to the main practitioner or to the team meetings. Therefore it is hard to understand that you ask this question. Did you get your education and training with the DKThR = Deutsches Kuratorium für Therapeutisch Reiten ? What are your experiences with that education/training ? I would like to share experiences so maybe I can help you ?
  4. If you are a certified Hippotherapy center, they will give you guidelines by which to conform. If not, just google your nearest organization and they will provide not only the guidelines but provide the forms by which you can complete and be in compliance with their rules and regulations. I just want to say that it does take a special kind of individual to offer this service and I commend you for it.
