Do people ever dye their horses hair color for sale?
I wondered about this...if they ever dye their horse a certain color to get it sold if it isnt so attractive... I've seen the black side of horse dealing too much to think it's not real... Anyone know of it happening?

- I don't know. Never seen it.
- I once had a palamino mare, with very ugly white yellow mane and tail. So I got a box of Clairol, <light ash blonde>, and did her mane and tail. It looked so beautiful , for about a month.
- No, I haven't seen a dyed one, but try this for the lengths some people will go. Years ago people who boarded at the same place as me bred their mare to a paint stud hoping for a paint foal. No luck, the foal was born chestnut with a white foot and blaze. These idiots bought dry ice and stuck it to the foals side in a big circle-ish area. Of course it froze/damaged the hair follicles, and when the hair came back it was mostly white. They then registered it paint/quarterhorse. At 13 yrs old, even I was sickened by the length of lies and deceit some people would go to,just to register an animal. (and no, I didn't worry about the foal at the time since it showed no signs of pain ,and being a kid I didn't think it was hurting her, though I'm not so sure now) Since seeing someone go to these lengths to deceive,, I have no problem believing they would dye an animal to make a sale.
- Darlin people dye their horses for shows to hide perfections sales dont tend to be a whole lot different
