  5. I live in Alberta, Canada, and I can tell you there are plenty of well bred, well trained horses for sale here. You didn't mention your breed and price range, so obviously that will make a difference. If you have the money, you can find a good horse here! But while horse prices are slightly down, they still are much higher than in the States, so don't expect to find the perfect deals like you would there. Go onto Northernhorse.com and look at their site. It is a website that has a large classified section, and the horses are almost all in Western Canada. AQHA and APHA are the majority of horses there, but they do have Arabs, ponies, Thoroughbreds and other breeds as well. If you don't do well on the classified section there, go into their breeder section. There are several hundred various breeders listed and links to their websites - you can find everything from horses bred and trained for cutting, to hunter/jumpers, to top breed show winners. Your next best bet is to talk to a good trainer. I could refer you to APHA/AQHA trainers in B.C. but not to other breeds. Simply find your breeds local club and ask them for contacts of trainers in the area, they will point you in the right direction. I would say that the average price of show horses is down somewhat right now. A few years ago a young broke show horse with an average win record went for $8000 to $12000. Now the price is more like $6500 to $10,000. So you won't be given a show horse for free, but it is somewhat more reasonable. Good luck and happy shopping.
