  4. Good luck!! Barrel racing is fun, just keep it that way! www.equine.com www.barrelhorseworld.com www.ebarrelracing.com These are great sites for barrel horses. Find one that you don't have to train on. AUTOMATIC!! That way you can learn how to ride a barrel horse and your learning will not mess up a horse that has done it for years. If you find one you like, be sure and watch a video and go ride that horse. You don't want one that shoulders the barrels, runs up the arena, is stupid in the alley and so on and so on. Do lots of research. best of luck

  6. What you want to look for in a barrel horse is typically any horse that can 'boot and scoot'. which means it can go around a barrel, and quickly go on running again. Dont look for especially breed horse. and stay away from started on barrels, hot at the gate etc. Although you have been riding since four, barrel horses are alot different from the rest of the horse world. good luck!

  8. look for a broke as can be horse that likes speed. it doesn't have to be experienced at all. should be between 5-9 years old. http://www.dreamhorse.com http://equinenow.com http://www.equinehits.com
  9. What you need to look at is conformation. You need a horse that is not real tall, 15 hands or so, and short backed. The smaller the horse, although the length of stride is shorter, they can turn those barrels quickly. A good thick cannon bone and clean knees and hocks are a deal maker as well. Use the sites that the others have given you for a start, but really zero in on conformation. Maybe spend some time studying the horses on barrel racing websites, look at their build, the angle of their shoulder and hocks, the shortness of their back and their average height. This will help you rule out horses when you start looking at them. Good luck.
