Hippotherapy

Can anyone help me compare Hippotherapy Vs. Physical Therapy?

Im trying to use Hippotherapy for my social studies fair topic but i would like to show the effects of Hippotherapy and how they differ from the effects of basic Physical Therapy.

  1. Hippotherapy is used mainly for children and involves the use of animals in the therapy. Most traditional is the use of horses with children who have high spasticity rates to help them relax. Studies have shown that the rhythmic movements of the horse can help lead the children's muscles to relax. It also helps to stabilize their core muscles by having to sit up on the horse, thus working on posture and balance. It's an alternative therapy of sorts that involves not only physical therapy, but occupational therapy and sometimes other disciplines as well. Hope this helps!
