  2. If you go to the British Horse Society (BHS) website you will find the information on there. They do some really good books too. You can order them online so you will always have some reference for you. Some plants are deadly to horses so you really need to know what they are and what they look like. Good luck.
  3. Take a look at this site - I think you will find it useful. http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=pro_apcc_horsetoxicplants
  4. http://www.ponyclub.org/hbc3.htm GO HERE! Download the posinous plant study guide under H-B Study guide it will tell you all the posinous plants know to man, where they're located, symptoms, everything and more that you'd ever want to know. It has pictures too! Once you learn them, if you want to test youself you can take the test. -Sounds like you should join Pony Club. (Ages 6-25) Basically you learn everything that you'd ever want to know about horses, while making friends and getting riding lessons. You don't have to own a horse to join, and horses are allowed..not just ponies. Infact, more than half the people ride horses and not ponies. Go ahead and explore ponyclub.org to find out more information and clubs near you.
  5. You can find a lot of good sites with pictures but the Big one to keep in mind right now is Red Maple Leaf Poisoning. Fall is prime time and it is a serious and often fatal disease usually not diagnosed until too late. It's not actually the trees that are red year round but the green varieties that turn red before the leaves fall. I believe they affect the liver or kidneys, the horses generally act colicky but it's actually their systems shutting down. Any maple trees around the horses areas where they can blow in should be watched. I know they can do tests to determine if your variety is toxic or one of the harmless ones.
  6. Here are a few. Deadly nightshade, black nightshade, woody nightshade, horsetail, hemlock, ragwort, laburnum, acorns, yew, cuckoo pint, privet, and foxglove. Unfortunately I have no pictures, but you could look them up on wikipedia.
