  1. wow...goats eat horses tails? That's insane. The answer is simple. Lace the horse's tails with something that tastes gross to the goats that will make them stay away from it. Kind of like what parents do when kids suck their thumbs too much. Just make sure its not poisonous to the goats :-)
  2. Do you have a salt/mineral block out for them? Usually when horses or goats do this it's because they're lacking a mineral in their diet. Get the blocks and put your horses' tails in tail bags for a while.
  3. If your goats are already eating your horses tails, this is something to try. ---------------------------- Supplies You'll Need: Rubber or latex gloves (thin pharmaceutical gloves give you more dexterity than kitchen gloves); ground cayenne pepper and petroleum jelly. Procedure: For this method, you'll apply a mixture of hot pepper and petroleum jelly onto the chewed tail hairs. The pepper creates an unpleasant burning sensation in the chewer's mouth, discouraging repeat taste. The petroleum jelly acts like "glue" to hold the pepper onto the hairs. To apply: Don gloves. Scoop out about 2 ounces of petroleum jelly, and hold it in the palm of one hand. With the other hand, shake a small amount of pepper into the jelly (about two or three good shakes). With your gloved fingers, thoroughly mix the pepper with the petroleum jelly, then apply the mixture to the bottom portion of the chewed tail. (Caveat: Apply this mixture to the chewed hairs only--avoid contact with the skin as it will create a burning sensation.)
  4. my colt ate my gentle's tail till i put mcnasty on my gentles tail. i could tire that some no chew such that is ok to be in a horses (read the bottle cause some are only for wood and fences)
  5. Grandma put tobasco sauce on things so the goats would leave it alone.. try it and see.
  6. Wrap your horses tails when they bite them and just try to keep then away from your horses, lol.
  7. what about a tail bag.........
  8. Put something nasty on your horses tails. or you could braid them up into a wisp(like a polo horses) you could also but a salt lick in the yard.
