horses.....?

hi im going to be learning pole bending . now im wondering if a Tennessee walking horse could be used for pole bending? thanks. yeah i have a quarter horse that i ride, but do to lime and lazy ness he has NO go in him at ALL. a trot is hard for him, just cause hes lazy. but there is a walking horse with a lot of go. yeah i have a quarter horse that i ride, but do to lime and lazy ness he has NO go in him at ALL. a trot is hard for him, just cause hes lazy. but there is a walking horse with a lot of go. hes 16 . 2 but never did poles. how do you go about all this

  1. Yep, I used to take lessons on a walker and she did just fine. =]
  2. I think any horse can be used for anything-just like dogs, however as in dogs, some breeds are better suited than others for certain activities. More than breed I would pay attention to the physical characteristics of your horse, if he/she is quick and supple, it will do great. Even if not, it will probably do well enough for you to decide if you like the sport.
  3. Not usually although I am sure there are exceptions. Walkers aren't generally known for their speed. A grade horse, or quarter horse is usually much better for this.
  4. yes they can, just be sure you know how to teach him to pole bend if he doesn't know before you buy him,
  5. Sure They Can be used that way But the horse I would suggest for pole bending would be the quarter horse they are usualy good at that sort of thing
  6. A walking horse would be good for poles. They are fast and always willing to go. Walking horses tend to be vey sensitive in the mouth and you have to ride completly different on a twh than a qt. You hold your hands high and sit strait up. Good luck finding what your looking for!!!
