Hippotherapy?
I'm interested about going into the field called hippotherapy? It's a form of therapy using the movement of a horse for children/adults with physical disabilities. It is really amazing. It helps with a lot of things. Physically, hippotherapy can improve balance, posture, mobility and function. Hippotherapy may also affect psychological, cognitive, behavioral and communication functions for clients of all ages. Clients who may benefit from hippotherapy can have a variety of diagnoses: examples include Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Developmental Delay, Traumatic Brain Injury, Stroke, Autism and Learning or Language Disabilities. However, hippotherapy is not for every client. Each potential client must be evaluated on an individual basis by specially trained health professionals. (http://www.americanequestrian.com/hippotherapy.htm) (Backround info) Has anyone completed a program for that? Has anyone heard of it before? Or am I like the single person whos heard of it? haha

- I've heard of it but never took any courses in it. I have a daughter with Autism and had actually looked around at the different therapies using animals and came across this. Unfortunately there is no place close by that provides it we could use. One other thing that struck our interest is a camp in Florida that has dolphin and sea turtle therapy for disabled children. They get in a shallow tank with a dolphin that kind of pushes against the child and holds him/her up in the water. It's amazing because you get to see kids that can't stand at all actually walk in these tanks with the animals. It's amazing and my only suggestion is to pursue it whole-heartedly!
- Look for information on a medication called Low dose Naltrexone (AKA: LDN). I was on Avonex and then Rebif and stumbled across information on LDN read all I could. I also, found that all of the ABC drugs have a success rate of 30%. My doctor said no to LDN so I found a doctor who said yes. It’s the greatest thing I ever did. However, read all you can to be comfortable taking it. You’ll be happy you started. (BTW: LDN has no known side effects) E-mail me at stevancremeans@yahoo.com if you have any questions. Scott
